Rob Holding has ‘time for everyone’ and plays a massive role behind the scenes at Arsenal, teammate Hector Bellerin has revealed.
Speaking candidly in ‘Unseen Journey’, a new documentary series produced by HIFEN Studios charting Bellerin’s rehabilitation from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, the Gunners defender opens up on his relationship with Holding.
The pair have both experienced major setbacks in recent years, with Holding breaking down in tears after Bellerin suffered a serious knee injury during a Premier League match against Chelsea in January 2019.
Holding – who recently signed a three-year contract extension at the Emirates – understood all too well the pain the Spaniard was going through having suffered the same injury in his left knee just a month earlier at Old Trafford.
The pair therefore struck up a close bond during rehabilitation, with Bellerin speaking fondly about Holding in the nine-part series.
“Rob is a great guy,” said Bellerin. “He’s the definition of a great guy. He’s got time for everyone – I think what shows truly, especially in the world of football.
“It’s not just how a person interacts with their teammates, it’s also how they interact with staff.
“There the players and the coaches and the physio’s kind of come underneath. But at the end of the day we’re all people and we’re all the same.
“It doesn’t matter how much we get paid or who is on TV. We all play a massive part of the game.”
He continued: “Without them we wouldn’t be able to do our job properly. Rob is someone that has conversations with all the members of the staff – he knows everyone and he takes care of everyone.
“He was a massive help to me [during my injury]. He knew everything he needed to do to come back stronger and he was a great example for me to follow.”
The nine-part documentary series, Unseen Journey, is available on Bellerin’s YouTube and Facebook channels from January 13
